What is Tendering?

Tendering in an industrial project

When selecting a contractor for implementing the project, clients, industrial design consultants and project management consultants face a challenge. The contractor must align with the project requirements and project goals.

Clarity in tender documents

The drawings and tender documents provided by the industrial design consultant should be clear and precise. There should be no ambiguity in the scope of work.

Ideally, the tender documents should give the selection criteria for the contractor. Other than the usual instruction to bidders, general terms, and special terms, some bids also have the safety manual and the anti-corruption code.

The industrial design consultants should give technical specifications with details, bench-marked products for clarity. The tender also should specify how each work will be measured.

The consultant should give a clear tender document and drawings. Furthermore, the tender document should mention the selection criteria for a contractor.

The tender may also contain a safety manual, anti-corruption manual, statutory compliances, etc. A separate section for technical specifications ensures clarity in each item code.

Conclusion

A well-prepared and clear tender ensures that the contractor plans his work and bids properly. Hence, it is the responsibility of industrial design consultants to provide a proper set of tender drawings and documents.
