The schematic design stage aims to create a spatial relationship between all elements in the project. The industrial architects also check for compliances with statutory regulations in this stage. 

Introduction to the schematic design phase

The industrial architects and engineers provide a visual reflection of the concept to the client. The drawings, documents, and other narrative materials help to convey the general information to the client's team.

This stage helps define the scope, area allocation, and functional relationships. Moreover, this phase is for planning traffic flow, budget, schedule, and milestones. It helps to give clear and comprehensive information about the project.

Schematic designs and industrial projects

There are multiple rounds of brainstorming sessions. These sessions help in anticipating bottlenecks and resolving them. The schematic design stage also helps develop an action plan for the project. 

The entire project team, including the client and the consultants, have many sessions in which opinions are shared. As a result, there develops a clear outline of the project. Once the framework is approved, consultants proceed with the next step of engineering design.

This phase provides guidelines for the scope of work and a strategy for the project. This includes significant functional aspects, engineering requirements, the necessary details of the building, and preliminary details of civil, MEP design & structural elements. 

To conclude, at the end of schematic design, about 20% of the entire industrial infrastructure design is complete.
