What is Variable Refrigerant Flow?
In simple terms, variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) or Variable Refrigerant Volume (VRV) is a ductless HVAC system that runs on a high capacity and large scale.
The VRF has to be designed based on the project requirements. An HVAC consultant has to have brainstorming sessions with the client to optimize the VRF system.
The heating and cooling medium in VRF is the refrigerant itself. The system has single or multiple condensing units depending upon the project.
What are the Advantages of VRF?
Some of the advantages considered by HVAC consultants while designing a project are:
- The VRF system provides heating and cooling simultaneously for various spaces in a building or a factory.
- The occupants can change the temperature based on their individual needs. The system has multiple speed compressor settings.
- The HVAC consultants can customise the system as per requirements.
- It is quieter when compared with the old technology HVAC
- Easy to install. The Maintenance and operation is easy
- Energy efficient
The HVAC consultants study the project requirements, visit an existing plant, and design an optimised and energy efficient VRF system.
